Cartier Women's Initiative Awards 2023/2024

Since 2006, Cartier, in partnership with INSEAD Business School, has been aiming to drive change by empowering women impact entrepreneurs. The mission of the Cartier Women’s Initiative is to shine a light on these women and provide them with the necessary financial, social and human capital support to grow their business and build their leadership skills. You can apply by 30 June for one of the three awards here for the Regional Awards, Science & Technology Awards en Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award.

3 AWARDS

The 2023’s edition of the Cartier Women’s Initiative offers 3 awards:
The Regional Award is dedicated to women-run and women-owned impact-driven businesses from the Benelux countries and Scandinavia. The Science & Technology Pioneer Award is especially dedicated to recognising women impact entrepreneurs at the forefront of scientific and technological innovation. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award encourages entrepreneurial solutions that close gaps of access, outcome or opportunities for communities that have been underrepresented or underserved. Entrepreneurs across all sectors and geographies are encouraged to apply, and this award is open to all genders. 

This programme awards over $1 million each year to women impact entrepreneurs globally.

  • US$ 100,000 grant – For each first-place awardee
  • US$ 60,000 grant – For each second-place awardee
  • US$ 30,000 grant – For each third-place awardee

The programs focus on several key areas to support human capital for women impact entrepreneurs and offer a combination of 1:1 training and collective workshops.

• Tailored 1:1 training – and consulting sessions in different business areas
• Community-peer learning and networking sessions
• INSEAD’s social entrepreneurship program
• 1:1 leadership coaching sessions with The Women’s Impact Alliance

The program wants to highlight the social impact of the fellows and build a bridge between female impact entrepreneurs and their supporters.

• International exposure & visibility in the media
• Access to an online & offline community of 700+ experts and peers

Award categories

• Women entrepreneurs from all sectors and regions are encouraged to apply for the Regional Award.
• The company must generate sufficient income, non-profit companies are not eligible. However, the business does not have to be profitable at the time of application.
• The company must not have raised more than US$2 million in dilutive financing.
• The company must be in the early stages of growth (between 1 and 6 years of licensed/registered activity).
• The company must meet at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
• A woman must fulfill the most important managerial position. For example, as CEO, general manager or director of the company.
• The founder must be a woman and she must be the largest shareholder of the founder’s stock in the company or own a share at least equal to that of her co-founder(s).
• The candidate must commit to work virtually 4 to 6 hours per week during the duration of the fellowship program and to attend 1 week of preparatory training in person.
• The program is open to women from all countries and industry sectors.

• The business must be based on the development of a new technology, a complex engineering process or a scientific discovery (TRL1 to TRL9 must take two years).

• Everyone is invited to enter for this inclusive award, regardless of their gender identity or expression.
• The company must demonstrate that its main purpose is to work to close gaps in access, outcome or opportunity for underserved or underrepresented communities.
• The company must have been generating revenue from the sale of its products for at least a year.
• The company must be in the early stages of its development or growth and must not have launched its end product/service for more than 5 years.
• The company must not have raised more than US$2 million in dilutive financing.
• The applicant must hold one of the most important managerial positions
• The company must be owned by the founders and team members at the time of application
• The candidate must commit to working virtually 4 to 6 hours per week for the duration of the fellowship program and to attend one week of preparatory training in person.
