The Dutch food chain is in need of change. Though the agro-food sector is the largest economic sector in the Netherlands, it is facing considerable challenges. It is responsible for a large share of national CO2 emissions, and the landscape is suffering from a loss of biodiversity. In addition, the Netherlands is the second largest exporter of agro-food products worldwide. This means the choices we make can have widespread global consequences. What if we use this position to make real impact across the food chain and accelerate the transition to a more sustainable food system?

Apply for the Business Model Challenge | Food Edition

This edition of the Business Model Challenge (BMC) is part of our Food Ecosystem for sustainable food chains. For this 3-month incubator program, we will select 12 entrepreneurs who are taking the first steps in developing a product or service that aims to make the food chain more sustainable. During three training days and four masterclasses, you'll develop your business plan, strengthen your skills and pilot your business in our network.

What are we looking for?

This edition of the BMC is focused on the same themes as the Impact the Food Chain Accelerator program. We are looking for entrepreneurs and initiators with a potential revenue model, who work on:
  • Shorter and fairer chains and contribute to regenerative agriculture
  • Circular economy, contributing to targets like reduced food waste
  • Lower climate impact, for example with sustainable protein

As an entrepreneur you have the commitment and capacity to execute your plan. In three training days and four masterclasses you will work on your business model, strategy, and roadmap for the coming months.
