Kumi Naidoo

What does Rio+20 mean for corporate accountability & CSR?

At the Rio+20 Conference, world leaders, along with thousands of participants from governments, the private sector, NGOs and other groups, gather to shape how we can reduce poverty, advance social equity and ensure environmental protection on an ever more crowded planet to get to the future we want.

Will discuss the impact of the Rio+20 negotiations on CSR and corporate accountability. We will also talk about the role of business associations and lobby groups in the negotiation process.

Our guest speaker will be Kumi Naidoo, executive director and “chief troublemaker” of Greenpeace International. Kumi will talk about the outcomes of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio and what they mean for CSR and corporate accountability. After his presentation, there will be time for questions and a conversation with Kumi about steps the UN could take to promote and ensure responsible business behaviour. You can read about Kumi’s hopes and expectations for Rio+20 here. His bio is available here.

It will be a great opportunity to exchange ideas with one of civil society’s top leaders!
