Do you have an idea for a technology that improves medical diagnosis, a solution for improving the lives of the elderly, or another innovation that solves a health or insurance-related challenge?

RGAX wants to provide a platform to innovators with solutions to challenges that affect the life and health insurance or retirement markets (e.g. in related to healthcare, quality of life and ageing) - in any stage of development! So do you have an idea, startup or scaleup that fits the bill? Apply by 15 March for a chance to win a cash price of €10.000 and business advice!

The Big Ideas Competition, run by RGAX, is the innovation accelerator of global reinsurance company RGA. RGAX has asked the Impact Hub network to support them in the search for exciting new health innovations from Spain, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands.

Through this competition, RGAX aims to strengthen their link to the startup community, expand the life insurance ecosystem and unlock new ideas that have the potential to revolutionise the life & health insurance and retirement industries.

How does it work?

  • Enter your submission before 21 March and receive a confirmation email.
  • The top 20 submissions (five from each country) will receive feedback from the RGAX team and will be invited to make a short pitch presentation at a pitch event in Madrid, Berlin, Amsterdam or Milan (dates TBC).
  • A local judges’ panel will select one finalist from each country (a total of 4 ideas) who will be invited to the Final Pitch Day in Paris, where the winner will be selected.
  • Finalists will have an all-expense-paid trip of two days and one night to Paris for the Final Pitch Day. The winner of this final pitch will receive a cash prize of €10.000 from RGAX.
  • Finalists could have the possibility to receive business advice and potentially other support that may include mentoring and access to the extensive networks of the judges' panel.
  • There is potential for investment from RGAX.

  • Criteria

  • You must be over 18 years old.
  • You can apply either as an individual or company/organisation.
  • Other insurance or reinsurance companies are not eligible to apply.
  • You simply need to be able to explain their idea - it is not necessary to have any development, prototype or test in progress.

    2018: Elina Naydenova | Feebris
    Feebris has created a wearable technology that can spot early diagnosis of pneumonia in children and the elderly. The AI-driven mobile platform connects to existing devices and uses advanced algorithms to deliver accurate diagnosis and monitoring.

    2017: Charlie Regis | Styliff Inc
    Tech startup Styliff Inc have developed an app, Actiff, that rewards people for leading an active lifestyle. This technology provides a way for insurers to encourage their customers to become more active, in a way that works for them as an individual.
