Lorelai: I already had the longest day of my life and it’s only ten o’clock.
Luke: There’s no coffee.
Lorelai: That’s not funny.
Luke: I can give you herbal tea.
Lorelai: This is not an herbal tea morning. This is a coffee morning.
Luke: Every morning for you is a coffee morning.

(from Gilmore Girls, although it could have been a recent day at the Hub)

What does coffee represent in terms of social relationships? We were recently reminded as our faithful coffee machine passed away after 2.5 years.  Goodbye Solis.

“Let’s have coffee” is the one-liner that always brings people together. Whether you drink coffee or not, it’s about the space it creates between people.

What conversations has our Solis witnessed over the past 2.5 years?”

Who met who at the coffee machine?

We have long seen the coffee machine as host, the one thing that connects people every day – whether it feels good or not. Ever since our first lets-start-a-Hub-in-Amsterdam and throughout the co-creation process, the community has made clear to itself that any Hub has 3 priorities: coffee, chairs, wifi – in that order. And from that emerges, good conversation and productive entrepreneurship.

As so many systems are in a transition from the old to the new, we find ourselves in a sometimes messy space in between – waiting for the new to emerge. We thank  our community for hosting our Solis when it was time and for a sense of ceremony that really allows us to say good-bye and to welcome the new.

Join us for a cuppa new Hub coffee, and welcome Presto!
